More information in the Cookie PolicyRai Paz is a jazz guitarist from Barcelona, a graduate of the Liceu Conservatory who trained in New York with masters such as Peter Bernstein. He leads his own quartet, with acclaimed albums including Gypsy and Dedicatòria, and has collaborated on numerous projects as a sideman and arranger. He currently combines performances at international festivals with teaching at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Sevilla.
Graduate of the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceu.
He has studied with Roger Mas, Jaume Llombart, Alfred Artigas, Jorge Rossy, Dee Jay Foster, Antonio Mesa, David Mengual, Jordi Bonell, Dani Pérez and Jon Robles, among others.
He has attended seminars and masterclasses with Pat Metheny, Dave Holland, Ben Street, Michael Kanan, Mark Turner, Ben Monder, Peter Bernstein, Eli Degibri, Charles Davis, Jimmy Wormorth, etc.
In 2011 he travelled to New York, where he studied with Peter Bernstein, Michael Kanan and Gilad Hekselmann.
He has led the group “Balsa Paz & The Jazz Holligans”, reviving the music of Sean Levitt, and has taken part in various projects such as “La Posada Jazz Collective”, “Maspollaz”, “Joana Gomila Folk Souvenir”, “The Swingbirds” and “D.O New Ensemble Next Generation”.
He has collaborated as an arranger with the “Big Band del Liceu” on the recording of the album “Wonder, a Tribute to Stevie Wonder” and has shared the stage with musicians such as Antonio Mesa, Víctor Correa, Fèlix Rossy, Albert Cirera, Mayte Alguacil, Marcel·lí Bayer, Celeste Alías, Gabriel Amargant, Eva Fernández and Rita Payés, performing at festivals such as “Festival M.P.B”, “Festival de Jazz de Caldes Engordany”, “Festival de Jazz de Banyoles” and “Festival Jazzing de San Andreu”.
Participation in recordings such as “Underpool 3” by the Underpool collective and “D.O. Ensemble, The Next Generation” by Víctor Correa.
Since 2017 he has been presenting his first album “Gipsy” with his group Balsa Paz 4et.
